|---|---|---|
| Where the words come from | Redbubble's search suggestions, or the tags of whatever designs the search returns | The titles and tags of the 30 top-selling Redbubble designs for your niche, weighted by where each one ranks |
| Competition | Usually not shown, or a general difficulty score | How many designs Redbubble's own search holds for the phrase, counted when you search |
| Direction | Rarely | A 12-month Google Trends line marked Rising, Falling or Flat |
| Order of the 15 slots | Left to you | Sorted by opportunity: demand from the sellers set against the designs competing |
| Trademark | Not checked | A TM button on every phrase that runs the USPTO lookup, and a © flag on phrases that look protected |
| Other marketplaces | Redbubble only | The same search can count rivals on TeePublic, Etsy and Amazon Merch too |
| Price | Often free | A free Redbubble tag generator; Keyword Research is in every plan, from $19.99 a month once the 3-day trial ($1 card check) ends |
A free generator is a fine start for a single design. When you list many designs on Redbubble, and especially when the same design goes to TeePublic or Etsy, the counts are what save you the slots. We build Trendlytic, so the right-hand column is our own account of it.

Features
What you get
Most Redbubble tag advice stops at a list of words. A list cannot tell you which words the designs that sell were found by, or how many other designs answer to the same word. Those are the two numbers that decide a tag. A phrase used by the best sellers but held by a hundred thousand designs is a lottery ticket; a phrase the best sellers use that only a few thousand designs carry is a door. Trendlytic gives you both numbers for every phrase: how strongly the top-selling designs in your niche lean on it, and how many designs Redbubble's own search holds for it today. Add the twelve-month trend and a trademark lookup, and the fifteen slots fill themselves in order of what each word can do for you.
Phrases ranked by the sellers who use them
A phrase used by the first-placed design weighs more than one buried at the end of the list, so the words that carry Redbubble's leaders rise to the top.
Rivals counted on Redbubble itself
For the 45 phrases with the most demand, Trendlytic asks Redbubble how many designs answer to each one, and sets that aside when the count looks like a broader search.
A trend line for every phrase
Twelve months of Google interest on each phrase, marked Rising, Falling or Flat, so a seasonal word is used in its season and a fading one is left out.
Filters for the shortlist
Best opportunities, Least crowded and Rising cut 200 phrases down to the dozen worth a tag slot.
Free tags to start with
The free Redbubble tag generator shows the tags the top-selling designs use for your niche and how many of them use each one. Ten lookups a day, no account.
Clear the words before you tag
Phrases that look protected carry a © flag, and the TM button on every phrase sends it to the live USPTO register, because Redbubble's rules cover tags as well as artwork.

Phrases the leaders use that few designs carry
One axolotl search on Redbubble returned 112 phrases from the top-selling designs. The Best opportunities filter keeps the nine where demand is high and the queue is short: witchy axolotl had 71 Redbubble designs competing for it, gothic axolotl 102, spellbook axolotl just 7. Cute axolotl, used by the same leaders, had about 18,000. All of them reach a buyer who wants an axolotl shirt; only some of them let a new design be seen.

Which words are gaining, and which ones peaked
Each phrase carries twelve months of Google interest. Filtered to Rising, the same search shows cosmic, galaxy and space axolotl climbing, with 188 to 499 Redbubble designs each, while a phrase that spiked once and fell flat is marked as such. Redbubble pages are indexed by Google, so a word on the way up is worth a slot before the crowd arrives, and a fading one can give its slot away.

Free: the tags the top 30 agree on
Before a credit is spent, the free Redbubble tag generator reads the 30 best-selling Redbubble shirts for a niche live and counts how many use each tag. For axolotl: axolotl itself on 24 of them, salamander on 16, cute and kawaii on 14, cute axolotl on 10, funny axolotl on 5. It tells you what the leaders agree on and copies the top 15 in one click; Keyword Research then tells you which of those words are already crowded.

The designs behind the words, on four marketplaces
Keywords are half the answer; the other half is what sells. The same axolotl search in Discover Niches read 60 Redbubble designs, 53 of them top sellers on their artists' shelves and 5 Rising, plus 61 on TeePublic, 60 on Etsy and 10 new Amazon designs already selling. The verdict, Hot Niche, says buyers are picking up new work, and every card carries its tags, showing which words the winners chose.
Built-in trademark check
Check any phrase against the live USPTO register before you design
Type a phrase and Trendlytic looks it up in the live USPTO register and shows who owns it, its status and its filing date. Included in every plan.
And the designs that were never yours to print are marked
When a result leans on a known brand, a character or a famous person, it arrives with a TM or copyright badge on the card. You see it while you are choosing, not after a takedown. A first filter, not legal advice.

- 2

- 3
Fill the fifteen slots
Lead your title and first tags with the strongest phrases, then let the free tag generator suggest the rest.

Frequently asked questions
How do I find keywords for Redbubble?
Start from the designs that already sell in your niche: their titles and tags are the words buyers found them by. Then check how many designs compete for each phrase on Redbubble, and keep the ones the leaders use that are not crowded yet. Trendlytic does both counts for you; by hand it means opening dozens of listings and searching each phrase.
How many tags does Redbubble use?
Redbubble allows 15 tags per design, each up to 50 characters, so every slot is worth choosing: put the most specific, strongest phrases first and broad words last.
Is there a free Redbubble keyword tool?
Yes. Our free Redbubble tag generator reads the top-selling designs for your niche live and lists their tags with how many of them use each one, ten lookups a day with no account. Keyword Research, with the competition counts and the trend, is part of the paid plans.
What makes a good Redbubble tag?
A phrase a buyer would type, that describes your design, used by designs that sell, and not held by so many designs that yours disappears. Multi-word phrases usually beat single words on that last point.
Does Trendlytic show search volume for Redbubble?
No. Redbubble does not publish search volume, and we do not estimate it. We show what the selling designs use, how many designs compete, and a 12-month Google Trends line, numbers you can check yourself.
Can I use trademarked words in Redbubble tags?
No. Redbubble's intellectual property rules cover tags as well as artwork, and repeated takedowns put the account at risk. Trendlytic flags phrases that look protected and lets you check any phrase against the USPTO register in one click.
How much does it cost?
Each keyword search uses 1 credit. Plans start at $19.99 a month for 100 credits; the 3-day trial before it opens with a $1 card check. The free tag generator costs nothing.
How does the 3-day free trial work?
Every plan starts with 3 days free. Starting it charges $1 to check the card is real, and that $1 is not refunded. The plan price itself is only billed when the trial ends, and cancelling before then from Manage Plan means it is never charged.
