The concession, and we mean it: if your business is one Etsy shop, eRank's free plan probably has you covered and you should not be paying us. At that size it is the better deal, it has been sharpened over years, and it does things Trendlytic does not attempt at all, like showing where your own listings sit in Etsy search or auditing what you already have live. We answer a different question. Not how do I fix this listing, but what should I make next, is anyone buying it, and can I legally put that phrase on a shirt, across four marketplaces rather than one. Paying $9 for that only makes sense once the answer is worth more to you than $9. One more thing you should weigh: Trendlytic is my product, so this page is the maker arguing his own case, not a review.

What you get
Almost every tool in this category asks for a card before it tells you anything. eRank does not, which is why so many Etsy shops start there and simply never leave. Five keyword lookups a day, five health checks, one connected shop, no expiry: at zero dollars that is a genuine offer, not a teaser. So we are not going to pretend eRank is bad. The argument on this page is narrower. Free has a ceiling, the ceiling is in a predictable place, and you hit it on the day your business stops being one shop on one marketplace. Trendlytic lives past that line. If you have not reached it, keep your money.
One query, four answers
Etsy, Redbubble, TeePublic and Amazon Merch get read together, roughly 40 seconds end to end. The comparison between them is the point. An idea that is exhausted on Etsy is regularly still quiet on Redbubble, and no Etsy-only tool can show you that gap.
Evidence, not appetite
Search counts measure appetite. Trendlytic looks at what is on the shelf and selling, then sets that against the number of sellers already there. It is the difference between a phrase being popular and a phrase being worth your afternoon.

Ceiling one: a second storefront
eRank reads Etsy, and its trend feeds pull some Amazon and eBay alongside it. That fits a shop whose whole life is Etsy. It stops fitting the week you open Redbubble or TeePublic, because now one idea has four separate answers and nothing free will give you them side by side. Trendlytic returns all four from a single query, so you can see an idea that is picked over in one place and barely touched in another.
Ceiling two: volume is not proof
A lookup counts how often a phrase gets typed. It cannot tell you that one of those people paid. Those two numbers come apart more often than sellers expect, and a busy term with nothing selling underneath it is the most expensive wrong answer in this job. Trendlytic begins at the shelf rather than the search bar. It puts the designs that are moving in front of you, then weighs that demand against how many sellers are already crowded into the same idea.
Where the phrases come from
Lookups are eRank's engine, and free rations you to five a day. Trendlytic assembles its phrase list from the other end: it reads listings that are already winning and gives you back their wording, ordered so the thinner, less contested openings sit at the top. Ceiling three: rationed curiosity
Five lookups a day quietly changes how you work. You start spending them on hunches you already half believe, and you stop wandering. Related Niches runs the opposite way. Hand it one niche that checked out and it fans into the neighbouring angles that also sell, so a single good hour turns into a season of upload ideas instead of five careful guesses.
One free AI listing a day, and what it is for
eRank's AI Listing Helper is capped at a single use per day on the free plan, and it polishes a listing you have already written. Trendlytic's AI Studio points the other way. It starts from the niche you just checked and produces the thing that does not exist yet: a slogan, a prompt for artwork you generate yourself, then a title, a description and keywords trimmed to whichever marketplace you are uploading to. What carries over is the buyer and the style that is selling. The artwork is yours to make.
Momentum a keyword chart cannot see
eRank charts how a search term moved across months. Trendlytic marks individual designs. A Rising badge lands on an Etsy listing published inside the last 180 days whose favourites are climbing faster than two thirds of its niche. Rising fast is tighter: under 40 days old, at least 10 favourites, and in the quickest tenth. Favourites are interest, not a receipt, so treat them as a heading rather than a sale. Trending Now does the same job at niche level and refreshes every hour.

Frequently asked questions
eRank is free. Why would I pay anything?
Often you should not, and that is the honest answer. Pay only when one of three things becomes true. You are listing on more than Etsy, and you need the same idea judged on Redbubble, TeePublic and Amazon Merch too. You want to see what is selling rather than what is being typed. Or you want a trademark answer on a phrase before you spend an evening drawing it. None of those three sit inside eRank's free plan, or inside its paid ones. Until one of them is your actual problem, the free plan is the better deal and we would rather tell you that than take $9.
Who is eRank's free plan genuinely enough for?
A seller with one Etsy shop, under roughly 50 listings, who makes or prints their own products and whose main job is getting found. Five lookups a day covers the tags for a listing or two. Five health checks a day covers a tidy-up pass. Rank Checker tells you where you sit. If that description is you, stay put. It stops being enough when you add a second marketplace, when you start guessing at what to design rather than how to describe it, or when the volume of research outgrows five lookups.
Should I cancel eRank and move over?
Probably not, and quite a few people run both. Trendlytic does not track where your listings rank in Etsy search, does not audit a live listing, and does not plug into your shop stats, because none of that is what it was built to do. Deciding what to make next is. Keeping a free eRank account alongside costs you nothing, so there is no reason to close it.
Is there a free plan on Trendlytic?
No. There is a 3-day trial with a $1 card check to confirm the card is real, and 24 tools at /tools that need no account at all, the trademark checker among them. A permanent free tier is not something we can offer, since every search sends scrapers across four marketplaces and that cost lands whether or not anyone ever subscribes. eRank can be free because its data works differently. We would rather explain that than dress up a trial as a free plan.
Does eRank check trademarks?
Not as far as its published feature list goes. eRank covers keyword research, competitor and shop research, listing optimisation, shop insights and trend tools, with no trademark checker among them, so that risk stays with you on both its free and paid plans. Trendlytic includes a USPTO lookup you run on a phrase, one click, on every plan, and there is a free version at /tools/pod-trademark-checker you can use without signing up for anything.
Does Trendlytic connect to my Etsy shop?
No, and it is a deliberate choice. You never hand over shop access or an API token, which also means no traffic stats, no sales map and no rank position for your own listings. eRank does those and does them well. Trendlytic reads the public shelves of four marketplaces instead, which is what lets it answer questions about niches you are not in yet.
What does eRank cost once you outgrow free?
Basic runs $5.99 a month, Pro $9.99, Expert $29.99, with a discount if you pay by the year, and the main thing those tiers buy is more daily lookups: 100, 200 and 500 against the free plan's 5, plus more connected shops and tracked competitors. Note that Pro lands within pennies of Trendlytic's $9 plan. At that point it stops being free against paid and becomes a straight question of which job you need doing, deeper Etsy lookups or four marketplaces plus a trademark answer.
How does the 3-day free trial work?
Every plan starts with 3 days free. Starting it charges $1 to check the card is real, and that $1 is not refunded. The plan price itself is only billed when the trial ends, and cancelling before then from Manage Plan means it is never charged.
