What you get
On Amazon a shirt is found by the words in its listing, and Merch keeps that listing short. There is no box for tags, so a keyword earns its place in the title or a bullet or it is not there at all. That makes two questions matter more than on any other marketplace: which words the selling shirts carry in their listings, and how many other shirts answer to each word. A phrase every seller uses puts you at the back of a queue of thousands. A phrase shared by the top shirts that brings up only a few hundred results is one a new design can rank on. Trendlytic answers both in one search, adds the words Amazon's own search box offers buyers, and flags any phrase that looks protected before it goes anywhere near your listing.
Phrases from Amazon's best sellers
Merch listings carry no tags, so the words come from the titles of up to 30 best-selling Amazon US shirts for your niche, and a phrase from a shirt near the top counts for more.
What shoppers type on Amazon
Amazon's own search suggestions for the niche, word for word, each with the results it brings up and a Top mark where the rivals are few and buyers are already there.
Counted the way a US buyer sees it
Each strong phrase is searched on Amazon US from a New York address. When Amazon answers only "over 1,000 results", that is what the table shows, never an invented figure.
The same words on three more marketplaces
Every phrase is also counted on Etsy, Redbubble and TeePublic, so a design you list in several places gets words that work in each.
Ordered for a short listing
Opportunity weighs the demand behind a phrase against the results competing for it, so the first words of your title go to the ones with space.
Checked before Amazon reviews it
Merch reviews the words of a listing as well as the art. Any phrase resembling a registered name is marked ©, and one click on TM checks it on the USPTO's live register.

The endings Amazon's search box gives buyers
Start typing in Amazon's search and it finishes the sentence with what shoppers ask for most. The Typed by shoppers tab collects those endings for your niche and searches each one on Amazon US. For beekeeper it listed 20: beekeeper shirt long sleeve held 413 results and was marked Top, beekeeper shirt funny 825, while beekeeping shirt ran past 60,000. Same buyer, same hobby, and a queue that differs by a hundred times depending on the words.

A new Merch shirt already selling in the niche
Words show how buyers search; the shirts show what they pay for. The same beekeeper search in Discover Niches read 22 Amazon US shirts and badged one of them Rising, a honey pot with bees at $13.38 that Amazon itself tags 50+ bought in past month. One new design finding buyers is a sign the niche still lets newcomers in. Your shirt brings its own idea and its own phrases, which is what the keyword table is for.

Where else the same shirt has room
A Merch design can usually be sold on more than Amazon. The verdict for beekeeper came back Good Opportunity, scored 4, with 6 Rising designs across Amazon US, Redbubble and Etsy. Amazon, TeePublic and Redbubble read Busy; Etsy read Open, with 60 listings and 3 of them Rising. Before you write a title, you know which marketplace the artwork has the most space on.

No niche to type yet? Take one Amazon is moving
Keyword research needs a starting word. Best Niches Today lists niches where Rising designs turned up over the past three days, and its Amazon filter keeps the ones moving on Merch. The day of this capture the Amazon list was full of night-shift nurses, with procrastinating side quests beside them. Pick one, run it through Keyword Research on Amazon US, and you have the niche and its words.

Words in place, a Merch listing written around them
Once the phrases are chosen, Generate listing on any selling shirt writes a listing for a different design in the same niche: a new slogan, an image prompt for original art, and a title, brand line and bullets kept inside Amazon's content rules. From a Halloween school counselor shirt, its slogan idea was Boo Brave, Teach Hard. It costs 2 credits, and it keeps the niche and the keywords while leaving the original's art and wording alone.

Check any phrase against the live USPTO register before you design
Type a phrase and Trendlytic looks it up in the live USPTO register and shows who owns it, its status and its filing date. Included in every plan.
And the designs that were never yours to print are marked
When a result leans on a known brand, a character or a famous person, it arrives with a TM or copyright badge on the card. You see it while you are choosing, not after a takedown. A first filter, not legal advice.
How it works
- 1
Choose Amazon US and type the niche
One keyword search costs one credit and takes about a minute.
- 2
Read both tabs
Keywords from best sellers shows the words that already sell; Typed by shoppers shows the words buyers start with on Amazon.
- 3
Write the title and bullets
Lead the title with the strongest phrase that has room, carry the next ones into the brand line and bullets, and run each one through the USPTO lookup before it goes in.

Frequently asked questions
How does the 3-day free trial work?
Every plan starts with 3 days free. Starting it charges $1 to check the card is real, and that $1 is not refunded. The plan price itself is only billed when the trial ends, and cancelling before then from Manage Plan means it is never charged.
I haven't sold anything yet. Is Trendlytic for me?
Yes. A search needs no shop and no sales history: type an idea and you see what already sells for it on Etsy, Redbubble, TeePublic and Amazon US, how crowded each one is, and a plain verdict. Start with the marketplace you plan to sell on. If you are not ready for a trial, the free tools at /tools need no account.
How do you find keywords for Merch by Amazon?
Look at two things: the words in the titles of the shirts selling in your niche now, and the phrases Amazon's search box suggests when a buyer starts typing. Then check how many results Amazon shows for each, and keep the ones with real buyers behind them and a short queue. Trendlytic does all three in one search; by hand it means reading dozens of listings and searching every phrase yourself.
Where do the keywords go on a Merch by Amazon listing?
Merch has no tags. Amazon reads the title, the brand name and the two bullet points, and the description to a lesser degree. Put your strongest phrase early in the title and work the others into the brand line and bullets as sentences a buyer would read, because a stuffed list of words reads as spam to Amazon and to shoppers.
Does Trendlytic show Amazon search volume?
No. Amazon keeps its search volumes private, and we do not guess at them. You see the phrases the best-selling shirts use, the phrases Amazon suggests to shoppers, how many results Amazon US holds for each, and a 12-month Google line where Google has enough data.
Why does a phrase show 1.0k results on Amazon?
For many searches Amazon only says "over 1,000 results" rather than giving an exact number, and we show what Amazon says. A phrase with an exact figure under that, such as the 413 results for beekeeper shirt long sleeve, is one where you can see how short the queue really is.
Is there a free Amazon Merch keyword tool?
Yes. Our free Amazon Merch keyword generator needs no account: it shows three Amazon US search suggestions for your niche, tells you how many more there are, and adds keyword ideas built from the niche. Keyword Research, with the best sellers' phrases, the result counts and the trademark flags, comes with every paid plan.
Can I use a trademarked phrase in a Merch title or bullet?
No. Amazon reviews the text of a Merch listing as well as the artwork, and a protected word in the title or a bullet can get the design rejected or count against the account. Trendlytic marks phrases that resemble a registered name, and a click on TM checks any phrase with the USPTO before it reaches your listing.
How much does a keyword search cost?
One credit per search, whether you choose Amazon US alone or all four marketplaces. The Starter plan is $19.99 a month, and every plan also opens the 1,000 top winning designs of the day in Best Design Instant.
