Trendlytic vs General Amazon seller suites
| General Amazon seller suites | Trendlytic | |
|---|---|---|
| Made for | Every category on Amazon, mostly FBA sellers with stock | Printed shirts and the people who design them |
| Where you start | Often an ASIN or a product you already sell | A niche word, before any design exists |
| The number you get | Estimated monthly search volume | The results Amazon US really shows for the phrase, plus a 12-month Google line when Google has the data |
| Where else it looks | Amazon first, Walmart on some | Etsy, Redbubble and TeePublic counted on the same row |
| Trademark check | Varies by suite | Risky phrases marked ©, and a one-click USPTO lookup on any of them |
| Price | Helium 10 starts at $99 a month on a yearly plan, $129 paid monthly (helium10.com/pricing, November 2026) | $19.99 a month and up, with Keyword Research on every plan, after a 3-day trial ($1 card check) |
If you sell physical goods of every kind, PPC included, a full suite earns its price and we would say so. Trendlytic does one narrower job, for shirt sellers. It is our product, so allow for that when you read our column.

Features
What you get
A shopper on Amazon only ever sees listings that match the words they typed, so keyword work decides whether your shirt is in the race at all. The big seller suites answer that for every category, with modelled search volumes and lookups built around ASINs. A print-on-demand seller usually begins somewhere else: no product yet, only an idea and a blank canvas. You want to know which words carry the shirts that sell in that idea, which of those words are already buried under tens of thousands of results, and which still leave room. Trendlytic answers that before you open your design software, and the phrases serve you the same way whether you list through Merch on Demand or through Seller Central with a print partner.
Starts from a niche
No ASIN and no existing product needed. A word or two is enough, which suits a seller still deciding what to design.
Words the sellers already rank with
Up to 30 of the top shirts on Amazon US are read for your niche, and their titles are broken into the phrases that recur, weighted toward the shirts placed highest.
A real count behind every phrase
Each phrase goes to Amazon with a US delivery address. You get the number Amazon prints, not a modelled estimate.
Great, Good, Fair or Weak at a glance
Opportunity sums up demand against crowding, and the filters cut the table down to the best openings, the emptiest phrases or the ones on the rise.
Fits Merch and Seller Central
Use the phrases in a Merch title and two bullets, or in a Seller Central title, five bullets and the backend search terms field.
Protected names flagged early
Before a phrase reaches your listing it is compared with names people own, and a click on TM asks the USPTO's register directly.

See it working

One letter, forty times the rivals
Amazon's search box offered eight endings for retired teacher, and the tab measured them on Amazon US. retired teacher shirts held 964 results. retired teachers shirt, one letter moved, held over 40,000. retirement teacher shirt passed 50,000. A shopper reads those as the same thing, while your listing either joins a short line or the back of a crowd. You would not see that gap from a list of phrases alone.

Longer phrases, and products past the tee
AI ideas suggests phrases a best-seller list would not show you, then measures each one before you see it. For this niche funny retired teacher hoodie came back with 286 Amazon US results, retired teacher tote bag with 395, teacher retired and loving it with 468, all marked Top: few rivals, buyers already there. Handy if your print partner offers more than tees.

When the broad word is closed, it says so
Searched whole, retired teacher came back Saturated: 30,000 results on Amazon US, no Rising design among the 32 read, a score of 2. Plenty of tools would still hand you a long list. Here the verdict tells you not to fight for the broad word, and the keyword table shows the way around it: came taught, from shirts that riff on I came, I taught, sits at 238 results and rates Great.

Short of a seed word? Borrow a live one
Every search has to begin with a word, and some days you have none. Best Niches Today collects the micro-niches where Rising designs appeared over the last three days, with an Amazon filter. When this capture was taken, night-shift nurses filled the top of it. Copy one into Keyword Research and you have a seed with proof behind it.

A draft of the listing, built on your phrases
Open any selling shirt in your results and Generate listing drafts one for your own idea, with new wording around the same buyer: a slogan, an image prompt, a title and bullets. It costs 2 credits. Swap in the phrases you chose from the table, read it through, and you are ready to paste it into Merch or Seller Central.
Built-in trademark check
Check any phrase against the live USPTO register before you design
Type a phrase and Trendlytic looks it up in the live USPTO register and shows who owns it, its status and its filing date. Included in every plan.
And the designs that were never yours to print are marked
When a result leans on a known brand, a character or a famous person, it arrives with a TM or copyright badge on the card. You see it while you are choosing, not after a takedown. A first filter, not legal advice.
How it works
- 1
Pick Amazon US, enter a niche
It takes about a minute and uses one credit.
- 2
Sort out the openings
Filter to Best opportunities, then look at the shopper phrases for the same niche and note how the counts differ.
- 3
Run your shortlist
Look each phrase up in the USPTO, then place the strongest early in your title and the rest in your bullets.

Frequently asked questions
How does the 3-day free trial work?
Every plan starts with 3 days free. Starting it charges $1 to check the card is real, and that $1 is not refunded. The plan price itself is only billed when the trial ends, and cancelling before then from Manage Plan means it is never charged.
I haven't sold anything yet. Is Trendlytic for me?
Yes. A search needs no shop and no sales history: type an idea and you see what already sells for it on Etsy, Redbubble, TeePublic and Amazon US, how crowded each one is, and a plain verdict. Start with the marketplace you plan to sell on. If you are not ready for a trial, the free tools at /tools need no account.
What is the best Amazon keyword research tool for print on demand?
It depends on what you sell. For a catalog of physical products with PPC to manage, Helium 10 and Jungle Scout are the usual picks. If you sell printed shirts and want to start from a niche, Trendlytic is built for that, and it is ours, so weigh that when you read this. Merch Titans and Merch Informer also serve shirt sellers.
Does this work for products other than shirts?
Only partly. The keyword table comes from best-selling Amazon US shirts, so it suits t-shirts and similar printed apparel. AI ideas can suggest and measure hoodie, tote bag and mug phrases in the same niche. If you sell kitchenware, supplements or anything unprinted, a general suite will serve you better.
Can I use it if I sell through Seller Central, not Merch on Demand?
Yes. The phrases come from what buyers see on Amazon, so they do not depend on how your shirt is fulfilled. Seller Central simply gives you more room: a title, five bullets and a backend search terms field limited to 250 bytes, which is a good home for the phrases that did not fit anywhere else.
Why are there no monthly search volumes?
Amazon does not publish them, so any monthly figure from an outside tool is a model. We would rather show what can be read: the results Amazon prints for a phrase, the phrases its own search box suggests, and a Google trend line when Google has enough data.
How many keywords does one search return?
It depends on the niche. retired teacher gave 22 phrases from best sellers and 18 more from shoppers and AI ideas. camping, a far broader word, gave 4 and 38. Narrow niches tend to give a fuller best-seller table, because their shirts share more specific wording.
Is there a free Amazon keyword tool I can try first?
Yes. Our free keyword generator takes a niche with no account, opens three Amazon US suggestions with their result counts, and tells you how many more are waiting behind them. The best sellers' phrases, opportunity ratings and trademark marks are part of the paid Keyword Research.
What does each search cost?
One credit, whichever marketplaces you tick. Plans start at $19.99 a month and include the 1,000 top winning designs of the day in Best Design Instant as well.
