| How fresh | A 30-day window, or a monthly list | Trending Now refreshes every hour; Rising is computed on every search |
| Licensed characters | Listed like any other search | Marked with a badge when a listing leans on a protected name |
| Search volume | Etsy's own search counts, which we do not have | No Etsy search counts; a 12-month Google interest line on the top phrases instead |
| Other marketplaces | Etsy only | TeePublic, Redbubble and Amazon in the same views |
| Trademark | Not covered | Any phrase goes to the USPTO register in one click, whichever plan you are on |
| Price | Marketplace Insights: 15 keyword lookups a week free, unlimited on Etsy Plus | $19.99 a month once a 3-day trial ends; the trial opens with a $1 card check |
The honest split: Etsy's Marketplace Insights is the only place with Etsy's real search counts, and it is free to try, so use it for the words. Use Trendlytic for the designs, the speed of the climb, the other three marketplaces and the trends that turn out to be licences. We make Trendlytic, so the right-hand column is our own account.

What you get
A trend on Etsy shows up in two places. First in what shoppers type, which Etsy itself now reports to sellers: its Marketplace Insights tool counts searches and listings over the last 30 days and lists the searches trending in your categories. Then in what shoppers do with the listings they find, which favourites they press and which new designs they keep returning to. The second signal is the one a print-on-demand seller can learn from without copying anyone: it names the audience, the joke and the style that are moving this week. It is also where a lot of trends turn out to be licences, Disney sweatshirts and film quotes that nobody outside the licence holder can sell. Trendlytic reads that second signal, hour by hour, and marks the trends you cannot join.
Measured hourly, not written up monthly
Each hour the Etsy column is rebuilt from fresh favourite counts, so a theme that took off this morning can be on it by the afternoon.
Licences called out in the list itself
Disney, film and band titles stay visible, with a badge on the words that belong to someone, so you can tell a licence from an opening at a glance.
From Etsy-wide to one niche in a click
Spot a theme in Trending Now and click it: Trendlytic offers to run the search for that niche, with its own Rising and Rising fast listings.
Rising, defined on the badge
On Etsy, Rising marks a listing under 180 days old in the fastest-favourited third of its niche, and Rising fast the fastest tenth, under 40 days old with 10 favourites or more.
Where the trend has room
The same niche on TeePublic, Redbubble and Amazon Merch, so you can list where the trend is still thin.
Favourites, called what they are
We show favourite counts and listing dates and never an invented sales figure. A favourite is interest, and the page says so.

Fifty Etsy listings, re-ranked every hour
Trending Now's Etsy column starts from a pool of t-shirt listings, the newest ones for broad phrases like graphic tee plus everything we have read in the last two days. Each hour we read their favourite counts again, set each one against its count from roughly a day before, and keep the fifty that gained the most. An arrow means a listing moved up three places or more since the previous hour; NEW means it just arrived. Titles that lean on a protected name carry a badge. The other three columns do the same job for TeePublic, Redbubble and Amazon.

Is the phrase itself on the way up?
Keyword Research gathers the tags and phrases a niche's leading designs use, 200 of them for spooky teacher, and rates each for demand and opportunity. The phrases with the most behind them get a 12-month line of Google search interest, labelled rising, flat or falling, and the Rising filter keeps only the climbers: 71 of the 200 in the second week of October. A phrase that spikes every autumn reads differently from one that peaked last spring, and you see which is which before you spend a weekend drawing.

One trend, four marketplaces
The search that surfaces an Etsy trend counts what every marketplace holds for it. For spooky teacher that was 60 Etsy listings with 3,856 favourites between them, top sellers on TeePublic and Redbubble, and 17 new Amazon designs already selling, which is why the verdict reads Hot Niche. A theme crowded on Etsy is sometimes thin elsewhere, so you can put your version where it has fewer neighbours.

Ride the trend with a design of your own
Click a climbing listing and press Generate listing. The original listing keeps the left side, title and 13 tags included, while AI Studio writes for the same buyer on the right. Here a monster maths tee turned into Spirits and Sums: a new slogan, a prompt for six monster teachers you can draw or generate, a 100-character Etsy title and a description. The theme carries over; the art and the words do not. Each listing uses 2 credits.

Photos before the season turns
A seasonal trend gives you a few weeks, so the listing photos cannot take a few days. Drop the finished design in once and the whole library fills with it: over 800 shots of t-shirts and hoodies worn by women, men, teenagers and children, flat lays and hangers among them. The first download of a mockup takes one credit and later ones take none; mockups marked Free never cost anything.
Built-in trademark check
Check any phrase against the live USPTO register before you design
Type a phrase and Trendlytic looks it up in the live USPTO register and shows who owns it, its status and its filing date. Included in every plan.
And the designs that were never yours to print are marked
When a result leans on a known brand, a character or a famous person, it arrives with a TM or copyright badge on the card. You see it while you are choosing, not after a takedown. A first filter, not legal advice.
How it works
- 1
Watch the Etsy column
Open Trending Now and read what is gaining favourites today, with arrows on the climbers and badges on the licences.
- 2
Open the theme as a niche
Search it to see its Rising listings, how crowded Etsy already is, and the same niche on three more marketplaces.
- 3
Check the words, then design
Read the phrase's interest line, send it to the USPTO register, then design your own answer to the trend.

Frequently asked questions
How do I find trends on Etsy?
Use two sources together. Etsy's Marketplace Insights shows what shoppers searched over the last 30 days, including trending searches in your categories. Trendlytic shows what shoppers are acting on: the Etsy listings gaining favourites fastest this hour, and the new listings climbing inside any niche you search.
Does Etsy have a trends tool for sellers?
Yes. Marketplace Insights, in Shop Manager, reports searches and listings from the last 30 days and trending searches in your categories. When we checked in October 2026, free accounts got 15 keyword lookups a week and Etsy Plus members got unlimited lookups.
Is Trendlytic's Etsy trend data search volume?
No. We do not have Etsy's search counts and we do not estimate them. Our Etsy trends come from favourites: how many a listing gained over about a day, and how fast a new listing collects them compared with the rest of its niche. For phrases, Keyword Research adds a 12-month Google search interest line.
How often do the Etsy trends update?
Trending Now rebuilds the Etsy column every hour from fresh favourite counts. Rising and Rising fast are worked out each time you run a search, from that niche's listings.
Which Etsy listings does Trending Now cover?
T-shirt and apparel listings, because Trendlytic is built for print-on-demand sellers. The pool starts from the newest listings for broad phrases like t-shirt and graphic tee and keeps re-reading them for two days, up to 2,500 listings an hour.
Why are some trending Etsy listings marked?
Because many Etsy trends are licensed products: Disney, film and game characters, band names. They are real trends that only the licence holder can sell. Trendlytic keeps them in the list, unchanged, and badges the protected words so they are not mistaken for an opening.
How much does Trendlytic cost?
From $19.99 a month, with Trending Now, the four-marketplace search, Keyword Research and the USPTO lookup in every plan. You start with a 3-day trial, opened with a $1 card check.
How does the 3-day free trial work?
Every plan starts with 3 days free. Starting it charges $1 to check the card is real, and that $1 is not refunded. The plan price itself is only billed when the trial ends, and cancelling before then from Manage Plan means it is never charged.
